James D. Kendis

James D. Kendis graduated from the Franklin Thomas Backus School of Law of Case Western Reserve University, where he received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1966. At law school, he distinguished himself as an Associate Editor of the Western Reserve Law Review and as a member of the Order of Coif.

Mr. Kendis has been a guest lecturer at Case Western Reserve School of Law, Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, Ohio Legal Center’s Institute for Continuing Education and the Cuyahoga County and Cleveland Bar Associations’ Practice and Procedure Clinics. He is a past Section Chairman for Workers’ Compensation Section of the Cleveland Bar Association, a past member of the Cleveland Bar Association Board of Trustees and a past member of the Executive Board of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers as well as a past Section Chair. Mr. Kendis is also a past Chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Specialty Board for the Ohio State Bar Association. He has been listed in Best Lawyers since 1999, Leading Lawyers in 2002 and Super Lawyers since 2006.

Mr. Kendis previously served as Secretary of the Governor’s Advisory Council for two governors, and is a past member of the Bureau of Worker’s Compensation Self-Insured Advisory Committee. He presently serves as a Volunteer Magistrate in the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Diversion Program.

Robert D. Kendis

Robert D. Kendis is the Vice president of Kendis & Associates Co. L.P.A. where he has been involved in the practice of law since 1969. During his law career, Mr. Kendis has been very actively involved on governmental affairs to the extent that he has served and is the current Chair of the Labor Management government Advisory Council to the Vocational Rehabilitation Division of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation since 1986. Additionally Mr. Kendis is currently a Member of the Industrial Commission Rules Advisory Committee as well as a frequent speaker at numerous continuing education programs and seminars on the subject of Workers’ Compensation.

In the past Mr. Kendis has served on the Disability Review Task Force and was a member and co-author of the Report of the Joint Select Committee on Workers’ Compensation to the State Legislature.

Additionally, he has served as a member of numerous local, state and national bar associations including the Cleveland Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association and the Workplace Litigation Group. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 1999 and an Ohio Super Lawyer since 2004 when he was chosen as one of the top 50 attorneys in Cleveland.

Mr. Kendis has been a Deputy foreman of the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury and was inducted into the Ohio Academy of Trial Attorneys Hall of Fame in 1995.

In 1999, Mr. Kendis was certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in the field of Workers’ Compensation and was re-certified in 2006.

Sheldon E. Baskin

Sheldon E. Baskin graduated from Cleveland State University’s Cleveland Marshall College of Law, Cum Laude in 1962. While at law school he was a member of the law review staff and also received the American Jurisprudence Award for the highest grade in Wills. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Reserve University in 1959, majoring in Political Science.

He has been associated with Kendis & Assoc. Co., L.P.A. and its predecessors for nearly 40 years. His main area of endeavor is representing claimants in their worker’s compensation claims and probate matters.

Mr. Baskin is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cuyahoga County Bar Association and the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Carl J. Stanek

Georgia L. Eckstein

Georgia L. Eckstein graduated from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law of Cleveland State University, where she received her Juris Doctor Degree in 1989. She was a Judicial Extern with U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio with Judge Alice M. Batchelder.

She began her career as Law Clerk for Magistrate Judge Joseph W. Bartunek in the U.S. Distrcit Court for the Northern District of Ohio and joined Kendis & Assoc. Co., L.P.A. in 1991. She specializes in Social Security Disability Insurance benefits and Supplemental Social Security Income claims, including appeals in the District and Circuit Courts as well as representing clients in Workers’ Compensation and Veteran’s Disability.

Ms. Eckstein has also worked as a rehabilitation Consultant with the Industrial Commission of Ohio where she provided rehabilitation services to assist injured workers in returning to work.

Sheldon L. Braverman

Sheldon L. Braverman graduated from Miami University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. He received his law degree from Case Western Reserve University Law School in 1965. After two years as a Law Clerk for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, he became associated with the firm originally started by Howard Metzenbaum. His professional career at this law firm covered thirty years. Mr. Braverman then became associated with Kendis & Assoc. Co., L.P.A. as trial counsel litigating workers’ compensation and personal injury claims.

Mr. Braverman is past President of the City Club of Cleveland, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys. He also is a former Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He has also served as President of the Cleveland Chapter of the American Jewish Congress.

Jeffrey A. Karson

Jeffrey A. Karson graduated from the University of Akron School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1989.

He joined Kendis & Assoc. Co., L.P.A. in October, 2004 and specializes in the area of Workers’ Compensation law. Mr. Karson has spent the majority of his career representing state-funded and self-insured employers before the Industrial Commission of Ohio and various courts as a legal representative in worker’s compensation claims. Since joining the firm he has focused his energy and experience in the representation of injured workers throughout Ohio in addition to maintaining a select group of employer clients. 

He has dedicated his career to Ohio Workers’ Compensation and became an Ohio Board Certified specialist in 1999. He was selected to be on the OSBA Workers’ Compensation Committee.

Jeffrey A. Kason is also a member of the Florida State Bar since 1993. In addition, he also represents injured workers in the Federal Workers’ Compensation system.
